The bottled made a large pop when opened. When poured a huge head formed. It was clear immediately that it was over carbed. The appearance is a huge, brown head with a midnight black body. The aroma has notes of chocolate, maple, and perhaps a hint of coffee. The flavor is similar--chocolate, maple, lactose, roasted malts, and a slight bitter finish. The mouthfeel is medium bodied but crisp because it's over carbonated.
The maple flavor is decent. I like the barrel presence. The only downfall of this one is the carbonation.
