this place slays, it is the wild and funky arm of what used to all fall under the standard label, now a separate operation entirely, with a really cool taproom. they have benches made out of big foeders along the wall, but the place is humble, seating for maybe thirty people inside, but they have an expansive outside space too, both were mellow when we were in. feels sort of gothic in here, dark walls and low light, with a two sided bar in the back corner, a window through to a barrel room, and a low key and unpretentious vibe. they have a wonderful selection both on tap and in bottles, generous pours too, i was impressed with the list. they do a series of wine beer hybrids called do not go gentle, and i enjoyed three different versions of it here, all absurdly good, gold standard even, i got a couple bottles too, a cherry almost lambic type totally packed with fruit and funk, and a neat bretty pale in the orval range, seems like everything they do is awesome. i love the ferments on them, and how they are different enough from each other. i thought the service was great in here, the prices were fair for the quality, and even though it felt a little empty, i prefer that to packed, we had great conversation over a great many ales. this is beer nerd central, like, such heady selections. they have some nonwild stuff from standard too, but you dont come here for that. im stoked we made it, and hopefully the separation of these breweries allows them to each flourish in their own way. these guys might be in my top handful in seattle, its that good already!
