FIBS Brewing Co.

A fifteen- or so-minute walk from the nearest bus stop, Fibs can be found nestled in one of those multi-use commercial-industrial parks that dot the Chicago suburbs and contributed to the removal of manufacturing and shipping from the city proper and helped wound mass transit and train traffic in general for the area for decades. No judgment on Fibs, just an observation. After passing through the bit of patio seating outside (this is how you know you're in the right place), you enter into an admittedly cramped, slightly humid bar area, flanked on both sides by small bits of seating. The space was clearly not designed for such patronage, but they've put tables and seats in every possible area. Admirable. Not much of a cohesive atmosphere, more like a counter-culture-inspired barfront. I'm not complaining. Decent range on offer, with the biere de garde the most interesting to me at the time (given the amount of saisons and such around at any given time, you'd think you'd see more of these, but alas...). Grabbed a crowler of that on the way out to share with friends the following day. Two flights later, I was done, but only after some nice jawing with the staff, who all seem pretty great. I doubt food was on offer, so I can't say anything there. Pricing was pretty good, slightly better than downtown Des Plaines, if you ask me. Overall, I'm not too likely to make this place a regular haunt, given it's distance from anything and everything somehow, but I'm certainly not staying away for any other reason. One day soon, at least, I've gotta get back and see what's cookin'.
