This was from the tap at the brewpub, poured into a pint glass. The beer has a light golden color with a decent head and excellent retention. The aroma is wonderfully hop dominant with a slight hint of malt. Upon tasting, the hops are a bit overwhelming in my opinion for just a regular pale. I would consider this style-wise closer to an IPA (they're that strong). The malt is present but very subdued, not very balanced for an American Pale. It has a medium body with low carbonation.
In my opinion, this is a better IPA than an APA. It's a little too over-the-top with hops for the style. All-in-all it's a good beer, but if I wanted an APA, I wouldn't order this beer...and on a warm early fall day, I much rather enjoyed some of the breweries other offerings.
