On-tap at the Map Room.
Glass arrives with creamy light brown foam on top, dense opaque brown body.
Smells very nice, big vanilla and lighter bourbon notes were upfront and noticeable.
Taste was unique, vanilla/bourbon combo again, but big on the oaky dryness toward the middle and end. It was enjoyable, but certainly not sessionable. A sweetish edge was apparent, not noticeably cloying, but it got to me towards the end of the glass.
Definitely worth trying, maybe share a glass of this batch.

A- This beer has a black body with a thick creamy head of light tan with lots of big bubbles pushing through turning it into a thick ring around the glass. The body is too opaque to see any carbonation.
S- The smell of oak is strong with hints of bourbon and as it warms there is some hints of wet wood and a faint brown malt note.
T- After the first sip my only thought was, holy crap that is a lot of oak. There were also some bourbon flavors with a sherry brightness to the alcohol taste in the finish. As it warmed there were some faint hints of cherry sourness and chocolate malt notes with even a soft molasses hint but it is all oak.
M- This beer has a light mouthfeel with a slippery finish. The alcohol heat is soft but really lightens the mouthfeel.
D- The beer is really lost in this barrel. The oak is only challenged by the sourness and not any malt flavors.

Served in a snifter at Flossmoor Station 1/27/07. The server didn't have much info about this other than "this is the barrel aged Pullman Brown". I couldn't find any info about it on their website or blog either.
A: Dark, opaque brown. Almost black. Small khaki ring.
S: Bourbon in the forefront, followed by some molassas and brown sugar.
T: Once again, bourbon is in the lead. Nice subtle flavors of vanilla, nuts, cherries, oak, brown sugar, and tobacco round this one out.
M: Very smooth. Oily and coating, yet not syrup-y.
D: The bourbon charachteristics of this one are not overpowering like some bourbon barrel aged beers. It allows the secondary flavors and aromas to blossom a little more and it doesn't ravage your tongue. Also, the abv of this feels pretty low. Very drinkable.
