This Belgian Golden Strong ale is a recipe developed by Brian Richards of MI who won the B.O.S.S. homebrew competition and was able to brew his beer here. His beer was named Biere Bella after his daughter, and we are using it for our anniversary beer. It begins with a fruity aroma from the unique Belgian yeast. The medium-bodied maltiness is balanced with a slight spicy flavor and a hint of ripe fruits or honey in the background. The finish is clean and dry. There is a bit of alcohol warmth at the end, but please use caution as it is pretty smooth and drinkable.

Had a slight honey/fruity scent. It had a thick head so it was hard for me to drink at first but once you get passed it, it's quite an enjoyable beer. It was a dry beer with an herbal aftertaste. Light mouthfeel. Overall, I had no complaints except for how thick the head was. Once that thinned out, it was good to drink.

Had on draft at Flossmoor on Friday before Dark Lord Day
A-pours a dark golden amber colored beer that is quite hazy. The head is pure white, bubbly but tight
S-lighter in aroma, nice notes of bourbon up front, pine resign, a touch of yeast in the middle with the oak and vanilla in the back
T-the taste is quite good, the bourbon is right up front followed by hints of oak and vanilla. Brown sugar comes in at the middle with some malty sweetness towards the back. Peaches and tangerines. Hops present in the back, it is piney with a light hop bitterness, a little hot from the booze.
M-the feel is smooth and creamy, it has a medium to full body with enough carbonation to hold the body throughout but presents no burn. It is syrupy and thick, great feel throughout
D-very tasty, nice bourbon aging to create an awesome balance. It is a little hot; but with the high abv it is still very tasty it just lets you know it's a strong ale.

Smell: Deliciously fruity, but a little faint.
Taste: Fig and raisins, in the front, with a nice balancing lemon zest, very well balanced and outstanding overall flavor, a world class brew.
Mouthfeel: An out of nowhere creaminess I wouldn't have expected from this style.
Drinkability: Respect this one, the delicious flavor and undercover alcohol will put you on your butt.
