Had this on tap at Flossmoor during the Kapowski release. This was easily the highlight of the weekend. This beer really floored me.
Served in a snifter. Had about an inch and a half of head. Dark gold in color. Looks great. Smell is bourbon, oak and tannins, some hops and a bit of belgian yeast.
Taste is off the charts! The flavors are incredibly balanced and perfectly complimentary to one another. Great, full mouthfeel. I had a few snifters of this and was absolutely speechless with each sip. This is the first barrel aged belgian ipa that I've ever had. I've heard of barrel aged ipa's, but have never come across one.
This beer was phenomanal and attests to Matt's brewing abilities! Thanks for putting this on tap.

At Flossmoor Station in a house snifter from what was said to be a recently found, 5 gallons in the Brewery dungeons. A generous, unexpected treat sent over by a fellow BA. Thanks Wendall !
A ~ This is a stunning beer in the glass...honey/amber colored with a smooth, even creamy egg shell colored head.
S ~ Sweet butter caramels, ripe candied fruit, bourbon with subtle notes of vanilla bean & wood. Extremely inviting.
T ~ The taste follows the nose with a complex, seamless blend of bourbon, subtle tannic wood, cane sugar & bready malts. There's a faint nuttiness to the hop finish & a warming alcohol nip on the back side that fits the finish perfectly. This really grew on me as I sipped through it.
M ~ Medium to fuller bodied with a mild level of carbonation that's easy to enjoy.
D ~ For what it is, this beer is off the charts! Diminished ONLY by the ABV percentage which is dangerously concealed. Perhaps, the BEST Barrel Aged Beer I've EVER had. You have to appreciate the size & the depth of this beer. This was quite an accomplishment in the world of craft beer...and it's a shame that there won't be any more any time soon. W O W !

Pours a dark amber color with one and a half fingers of white head.
Scent of strong oak, sugar, sweet malts, fruits, and bourbon. This is just an incredible scent, and as strong as the wood and bourbon presence is, it is surprisingly balanced.
Taste of sweet fruits and bourbon compliment each other very well, oak, honey, burnt sugar and hops complete this excellent beer. Finishes with a faint hoppiness and some warming alcohol.
Mouthfeel is medium bodied and very smooth.

(Served in a snifter)
A- This beer has a warm dense orangish-brown body with a creamy snow white head that last and last sticking to the sides with each sip.
S- The smell of soft white caramel has hips of circus peanuts and a warm hop hint. There is some nice white sugar notes with the wet wood Bourbon nose. The finish smells sweet with a faint green note.
T- The smooth taste of spun sugar has a nice bourbon compliment and a light circus peanut hint. There is a nice green hop finish that is not big but really supports the malt/yeast flavors.
m- This beer has a medium-light mouthfeel with a smooth alcohol heat coming through as the beer warms.
D- This is a wonderful beer. Sweet caramel and wood blend with alcohol heat and a soft hop punch still hangs in there to offer a nice flavor. Perfect to pair with crappy Chicago winters.
