Served in a goblet at proper serving temperature. According to their blog, this is their Dark Matter Imperial Stout aged on coffee beans for three months.
Black in color with a thin light brown head that lingered for the whole serving.
Coffee dominates the smell along with a roasted malt aroma.
Upfront there is a slight sweetness and roast malt flavor that is then overpowered by a intense roasted coffee flavor in the middle. The finish is full-on coffee with a sharp bitterness. As it warms, the bitter finish intensifies, reminding me of unsweetened baking chocolate.
Mouthfeel is full-bodied and chewy. No real hints of the alcohol content.
Overall there is some great flavor here and probably the most intense coffee flavor I've experienced in a stout or porter. The bitterness towards the end of the glass becomes almost too much though.
