this place is awesome, right off the leith walk and funky as can be, neat look to the branding, geometric and colorful and its a great little spot, surprisingly modern looking and feeling in a very old city, next juxtaposition. its clean and artsy but also blue collar to me, and i love that. kegs stacked up outside, industrial look from out front, picnic tables make a little patio area, and it opens with a big garage door into the production area, surprisingly big system in here, must be doing some decent volume. they have a little gift shop area on the left but the taproom is up the stairs. neat space there overlooking the whole brewery from a lofted vantage point, long bar across the back with a heck of a selection. cool mix of beers, lots of hoppy stuff, global varietals and very contemporary, some fruited beers, dark stuff, a few more classic scottish types, all very alluring, neat glassware here jazzes the beer up even more. we had the ipa and the new england ipa and the nelson pale, all of which were mild by american standards but well composed and executed. i loved the blueberry pale as well, but my favorite of their beers came at a bar a few blocks away a day later than our brewery visit, a stunning cask conditioned porter. nice mix of innovation here. the folks working were not a big part of the experience, friendly enough i suppose but not chatty or overly welcoming, whatever, the beer speaks for itself in here and the space is colorful and nice, really well worth stopping in and among my favorite brewery visits from our trip to scotland. they have a great thing going, lots of options, very cool to see craft beer in the modern sense so established in the old world like this, really dug this place!
