Wayward Lane Brewing

 

Big clapboard building in the countryside a bit southeast of town. Small L-shaped bar, half service half seating 4 opposite the entrance, with some tables about the room, a more outside in the yard. A dozen beers on tap. Dedicated food truck.

Wayward lane is where you will find the coolest farmers hangin* out, drinking delic beer. We visited on a torrential rainy Saturday where there was a too loud country band in the barn, a lonely food truck in the rain, and a very nice crowd by the bar. I had a the very good Cultivar Motueka on tap. I was introduced to this gem brewery from the BA WCIPA box: chatted with an associate brewer who explained their take on the classic WCIPA. Only complaint was that pickup beer selection was very limited , did not match what was offered online , which was sad since we traveled from Rochester, NY to this brewery. Alas it’s a recommend from me: friendly, awesome beer, beautiful location!

 

Place is awesome. The brewery/taproom are in a renovated hop house from the 1800's. They have a giant outdoor "bier meadow", live music, food trucks, and the beer is fantastic. Oh and it's a working farm with chickens, beehives, a fruit orchard for their coolship program and the owners are super friendly.
