It's an IPA, but it's a Belgian?!?! Crisp, but yet hints of bubblegum and fruity esters with a malty backbone. A mad scientist's beer!!

On tap at The Brass Tap, Cedar Falls, IA. Served in a snifter. Appearance is that of a dark caramel sauce, with an eggshell colored head. Good retention, with some nice sticky lacing. Malt forward, with notes of dark bread, dried fruit, and Belgian funk. Medium bodied, with good carbonation. The brewer lists an IBU rating of 60, and I was not disappointed. Lots of hoppy and roasty bitterness that clings to the palate all the way to the finish and beyond, leaving a slightly astringent and herbal aftertaste. An excellent beer overall, and a stellar pairing with fried pretzel bites and queso dip. Santé!
