CAN: 500ml. pull-tab with a brown label. Acquired as part of the Costco Beer Advent Calendar 24-pack for $60 USD plus tax.

Currently #84 on the Top Rated German Dunkelweizen Beers list.

5.3% ABV. "Hefe-weisse Dunkel."

I'd been wading my way through the sea of shit Egerer considers beer good enough to put out into the world, disappointed, and then I tried this one. Okay, it's not amazing, but it's a competent dunkelweizen. Vanilla, clove, and banana from the German yeast. Wheat. Hints of dark malt sweetness.

Smooth, wet, coating, medium-bodied, somewhat refreshing. Has an approachable mouthfeel for all 4 seasons.

A drinkable enjoyable dunkelweizen with plenty to offer the discerning drinker. Egerer makes a lot of crap, but this is one of their better beers.

This was part of that set of 24 different Germans. It seemed slightly canbound at first, then it improved. I have let it warm a bit, which helps.

It pours copper colored with just a bit of fizz. The aroma is that nice wheat beer smell, and the darker version seems to cut through any can taste.

Recommended.

Appearance: Deep amber brown, with a bit of haze. Large and fine-beaded snow-white head slowly fades. Broken, irregular rings line the glass walls.

Aroma: Ripe bananas and caramel define the aroma; there is also some clove and wheat malt.

Taste: The taste opens with very sweet caramel, ripe bananas, cloves, and dark wheat malt. As the taste progresses, the ripe bananas and cloves really dominate. Perhaps it its my imagination, but there seems to be a hint of warmth from the alcohol. Later in the taste, the malt assets, offering an effect of brown bread lightly glazed with sugar. Finishes with a slight note of burnt caramel and ripe banana.

Mouth feel: Smooth, soft, and very full, just excellent.

Drinkability/notes: Really excellent and very drinkable, quite appealing for cooler weather.

Presentation: Packaged in a 500 ml, 16.9 ounce steel can, served in a standard Pilsener glass. Beer number three (December 3rd) from the 2017 Costco Advent Beer Calendar.

From the Costco Advent Calendar Can, it pours a hazy slightly dark amber with a nice head. Some lacing. Some banana in the nose. The mouth gets the same, very smooth taste and drinks easily!

2018 update: Same!
