Helles, also Helles Lager, Münchner Helles, Bayrisch Hell or Hellbier is a bottom-fermented, light yellow and slightly hopped beer type. The Alms Hell is a classic representative of this beer style, without many rough edges, but rather drinkable! The way a real light should be!

Pours a clear golden yellow color with a finger width foamy head. Head retention is decent. Lacing is good. Bready aroma German yeasts. Bready, buttery taste with hint of hay. Light bodied with moderate carbonation.

Smooth, Drinkable, everyday beer - not trying to be something out of the ordinary - but it has an extraordinary taste

Another from Costco beer advent calendar, and helles are my favorites from the box. This has some aftertaste, not terrible, but not helpful either. Overall it goes down easily but isn't anything special.

Poured from can into tulip, good 2+ finger cream colored head, epic retention and lacing. Pale yellow in the class, clear, but slight chill haze. Baked bread, herbal and spicy on the nose. Taste follows up, cracker, hay and a little residual spice on the palate. Nice firm bitterness, easy drinker with a dry finish and a nice aftertaste

Gold in color with a quarter inch of of off white on top. It quickly fades to a fingernail around the rim and covering half of the top. The aroma is a light, crackery malt, sulphuric, and grassy hops. I am tasting well water with a bit of lightly bready malt. The mouth is dry and crisp.

Look - 3rd beer of the 2021 Costco Advent Calendar. Poured into a standard pint glass: lemon yellow in color, clear, and two finger head with moderate lacing retention.
Smell - hearty bread, moderate sweetness, with some subtle white pepper. Everything on the lighter end.
Taste - on the light end in taste, approaching watery. some malts detectable, with light to moderate hoppy bitterness. finish is clean and comes quickly.
Feel - light bodied, high carbonation, and right on par in ABV for the style at 5.2%.
Overall - a "Helles light" would be the best way to describe this one: easy and drinkable, but also light on the flavor. it's not bad, but it's also not spectacular.

My least favorite of the box so far. Still drinkable, but has more off flavors ( copper and skunky-ness) and isn't as sweet as it should be to balance it out.
