Copenhagen 12/5 2019. 33 cl bottle from Meny, Borups Allé, Frb F. Drawing of some Monk in a cowl on the label. Some small Devil Horns on the O in Holy.
Pours unclear, hazy orange with a medium-sized white head. Settles as very thin, almost transparent patch of foam unable to cover the surface of the beer. No lacing.
Aroma is sweet fruits accompanied by a sharpish sour, bitterness. Light odor of banana, fermented fruit peeking in with a sweetish boozy odor. Sharp almost metallic sour notes.
Light carbonation. Thick, oily, texture.
Flavor has a strong sweetness followed by a medium strong bitterness. Aftertaste is sweetish with a strong presence of alcohol. Semi-dry finish.
Potent, boozy Tripel. If you like your beer with a strong alcoholic presence this might be for you.

Pours a clear, golden amber coloration with a medium, fluffy head. Smells of biscuity, caramel malt, toffee and hints of spicy esters and floral hops. Taste is a poor balance of biscuity, caramel malt, toffee, floral hops and hints of estery spice and phenols, with accents of clove and band aid. Finishes with a medium sweetness and some toffee and floral notes lingering in the aftertaste. Smooth mouthfeel with a medium body and carbonation.
What makes a great Tripel to me is that balance between sweet malts, bitter hops and fruity/spicy esters, which is pretty poor here. This is mainly dominated by caramel malt and toffee, with very little hops for balance, while feeling a bit more phenolic than estery and being a bit too boozy as well. While there are hints of estery spice to this, very little fruitiness is coming through, while a certain, not too bad, band aid presence is there as well. After having had their IPA, which really wasn't as bad as I expected, I had some hope for this as well, which was unfounded though. While it's not terrible, it's far from great either, just being too sweet, boozy and phenolic, while lacking some distinct hops and fruity esters.

There are some decent Belgian Aromas here despite having to abide by the german purity law (so no addition of herbs, spices or sugar), but this is so incredibly boozy that it drinks more like a Cognac and that's bad for a 330ml bottle.Pretty much undrinkable for me.

Pretty good Belgian style triple. Smell of biscuit, citrus and tropical fruit. Sweet malt forward, not biscuit, corn, banana and citrus with a bitter astringency and clean finish. Medium body with carbonation- enjoyed it with a greasy pizza at the airport
Not bad!
