craftwerk is apparently an arm of bitburger, and they have crafted this pils for prost, the german beer hall of the northwest. its a cool beer, hoppier than most with the inclusion of some northwestern hops that dont normally find themselves in this style, but the beer has a classic taste and feel to it, very light, with nothing really too dramatic about it, other than it being just a very well made german lager, it tastes like many others, but fresh on tap at prost in boise, its drinking really fresh and good. a little bit of a richer golden color to it, with an aroma of floral hops and some crackery malt, simple, old worldy, very pure and minimalst too. the flavor has a little citrus from the hops, some grassiness to, fresher than is normally the case with the imports, and maybe a touch higher alpha in this instance. note of biscuit and communion wafer in the malt bill, european for sure, with a little bit of sweetness in the center. the yeast is a traditional german lager yeast and it adds quite a bit of flavor to the beer. the body is smooth and the carbonation sings, exactly what i want in the style. overall a nice beer, my first under the craftwerk label, and one that seems to have just a little more going on than many of its peers without it cutting into drinkability. a fun one while it lasts!
