Copenhagen 15/4 2023. 33 cl bottle from Rewe, Flensburger Markt, Flensburg. White and green label with a stoic Ram staring at me.

Pours slightly unclear yellow with a mid-sized white head. Stable. Settles as 1cm thick layer of foam covering the surface of the beer. Substantial lacing.

Aroma is medium intense with a sweet malty odor mingling with grains and alcohol. Sweet pale malts, bread, cardboard and a hint of metallic alcohol. Sharp sour grains.

Medium strong carbonation. Slightly thick, oily, lightly tingling texture.

Flavor is medium intense with a medium strong sweetness followed by a slightly more moderate bitterness. Aftertaste is a bit bitter and harsh. Lingers for a while. Finish is semi-dry.

Middle of the road German Maibock.

From the misplaced, now out of date, bottle, it pours a slightly hazy golden color with a nice white head that slowly reduces and leaves lacing. The nose gets a slightly fruity, slightly malty scent. The taste is hop forward, with notes of malt following. While not true to style, not bad at all.

Bitburger Brauerei “Maibock”
,33L brown glass bottle coded “mindestenshaltber bis: 26.11.21 L3109V.”

Notes: Clear golden body beneath a standard-sized head of white foam. Better than average head retention and lacing. A hoppy Maibock. Malty, hoppy, and fruity. Aroma is malty and herbal. The flavor brings in fruitiness and spice.

Could've been maltier. Not as good as their Winterbock but still very different from what other Big Breweries trot out as their Maibocks.
