Collaboration with Deschutes Brewery.
A passion for brewing can bring people together, and that’s exactly why we have partnered with our friends at Deschutes Brewery to a brew a full-flavored, unfiltered Zwickl beer. This unique brew is made out of Bitburger Siegelhopfen, Bitburger’s unique proprietary hop blend from the Eifel National Park; and the aromatic American Citra and Mosaic hops, which are grown in Yakima in the United States. Together, they give Bitburger Dry Hop’d Zwickl its fruity and hop forward flavor profile. Friendship at its finest!

From a 4-pack picked up at Costco in Missoula, MT
500ml can poured into a Sierra Nevada imperial pint
P deep orange/amber with a slight haze; small white head; cap sticks around for awhile; med-heavy lace
N sweet grainy malts, wort-like character, buttery grassiness, and a sour note in there as well (yeast?); light citrus comes out as it warms
T smooth lightly bready malt, grassy notes, and an underlying pleasant light citrus note (sweet orange); much like in the nose, more citrus as it opens up
Mf med-bodied w/ med to med-high carb
O not typically a style I would drink, but solidly-done, imo; the more I drank through it, the more I enjoyed it

On tap at Brauhaus Schmitz in Philadelphia, PA.
This one pours a semi clear dark orange-ish color, with a small head, and a good bit of lacing.
This smells biscuity and bready, with orange, floral hops, and some hop spice.
This has some nice toastiness and breadiness to it, and the dry hopping doesn’t make this completely overly and bitter. It adds some orange zest and lemon zest, and a touch of floral and slightly spicy hop character.
This is light bodied, very drinkable, and very smooth on the finish.
I’d honestly prefer a bit more crispness and hop bite here, but this was still quite tasty.

Appearance: Pours a deep, darkened gold body with a surge of white foam and a moderate degree of haziness. Lighty, spotty lacing.
Smell: Biscuit-minded maltiness with a bit of underlying toastiness. Floral, herbal hops with a solid, sordid yeastiness. Background note of a bank-issued sweet orange lollipop.
Taste: Lightly biscuity, breadcrusty with a little brush of blonde caramel or toffee sweetness. Incoming herbal, floral tones and some pleasant albeit subtle spiciness along with a rousing orange peel citrus fruitiness. Restrained bitterness. Almost uninterrupted light orange candy character through the drying, lightly bready/yeasty finish.
Mouthfeel: Medium-light body. Medium albeit soft carbonation.
Overall: Tasty, pleasant beer.

A very nice easy drinking brew, semi-sweet full-flavored and a bit of a hop at the end. Canned 01/31/22 - would like to try a fresher can. Would def. purchase again.

unfiltered.
A: Solid two finger creamy textured capping was light beige-white in color, and showed a strong resilience. The coloring was a dark orange-tea with the faintest hint of carbonation detection. Strong multiple band lacing encompasses the vessel rim.
S: Yeasty aroma, bready, with fresh wet greenery. Some fruity cantaloupe, melon, and lime. Fresh wheat with sweet and fruity hops has a pleasant scent.
T: The flavor was wheat grains with a snap of musky oranges-tangerines and apple-citrus. Some cobweb yeastiness upfront, some floral citrus notes. As with the nose, the flavor is pleasant and smooth, well balanced with notes of cantaloupe and melon fruitiness. Snappy yeastiness, musky cobwebs, grains and oranges upon swallow.
M: Soft mouthful, medium body with a light creamy viscosity. Dry lacing, powdery - flower coating on the tongue.
O: Overall a crisp, fruity and yeasty smooth drinking beer making for a great start to the summer. Nice flavor per style, with an exceptional German smoothness that factors into the drinkability factor that is relaxing and soothing in multiples.

Poured from a pint can into a Guinness gravity glass.
L: Orange-amber with half an inch or so of off-white head. Mostly opaque with some light coming through.
S: Very malty with a bit of a citrusy hop dryness. Reminiscent of Muscat grape.
T: Very similar to the nose, with the hop profile dominating the back end. The grape notes in the nose give way to an almost sweetened-caramel flavor up front. Excellent.
F: Medium body and pleasant levels of carbonation.
O: I've not had a beer of this style before, but I will certainly be back for more. Somewhat refreshing but with complexity. Makes me think of rolling green fields on a cool May afternoon.
