Purchased at the height of the COVID-19 outbreak from the source in a 64oz growler; consumed from same (no glass needed).

After being stuck in our apartment for 21 days straight, we took a chance and poked ourselves outside in search of fine beer. This fit the bill with aplomb.

We have no idea how this looked, given we guzzled it directly from the growler. The aroma was subtle but unmistakable; we had a tasty beer in our hands and we also got wafts of coconut. Very pleasant.

Once we unscrewed the cap (with a reassuring "hissss" ) and took our first guzzle, the feel was light but unmistakably a beer worth savoring. The dark malts let us know they were there in spades, and the adjunctive flavors of coconut and coffee were subtle but obviously apparent. We were onto something good.

The taste on our tongues was not brazen but was unmistakable. The toffee-like taste of dark malts mixed with the slight alcohol overtones as well as the wafts of coffee(in the nose) and coconut (on the tongue) were permeating the overall experience. With each guzzle (sitting in a parking space just outside downtown Portsmouth) the experiences grew stronger, but never overwhelming. Wonderful balance here.

This was an extraordinary beer, pleasing in all ways. We're glad we emerged from our self-imposed cocoon to make the trip to (very quiet) downtown Portsmouth this blue-sky Saturday afternoon.

In these extraordinary, surreal times, we have no guilt in reporting this. This beer is a winner. We're seated safely in our home as we report this.
