Common John Brewing Company

 

I had dinner and some samples here with coworkers when I was in town on business. The overall vibe was like a slightly older Applebees or Fridays. The food menu was also aligned with that genre of restaurants; a bit beyond basic pub fare, but not real imaginative. Still, it was tasty and was fairly large servings, so no complaints about the food. The beers were all decent and one (Deeper Purpose Porter) was quite good, so perhaps if they are focusing on beer and not food.
The service was competent but not spectacular.

They had 20 of their own beers on tap, so I was impressed by their efforts at diversification there. In general, this was a good place to have beer and a meal if you are in town, but they are definitely (and understandably) seeking to stay in the comfort zone of their local small-Southern-town clientele, rather than trying to push the boundaries of craft beer.
