Ok, I have been going to the Troy Pub and Brewery for a number of years, actually knew it much better as Brown and Morans. With this being said I feel that the brews are a step down from what they use to be in the early/mid 90s but still have some nice choices.
Usually have 7 or 8 of their brews on-tap including seasonals. One of the nicer places to go and enjoy a brew, usually can find a quiet (except on Friday and Saturday evenings) spot to talk, etc. In the back you can see the brewing apparatus and then they have a nice outside patio for the summer months.
Has a real nice bar area, huge U shaped bar and quite a bit of seating for folks wanting pub fare style food. The food is very good here and have a pretty nice selection.
Over al a real nice experience, if your in the area stop by!

This is probably the best brew pub in the Capital region (outside Saratoga) to get a good brew. The Troy Pub and Brewery offers a great spot with a patio right on the Hudson with a great view of the Green Island Bridge. A great place to chill out with a beer in the warmer months. They have great rotation and selection of beers. (they do a very good job at seasonal beers of which the pumpkin and smoked are very good for a smaller brewery) I have always been pleased and given a good buzz from the brews they keep on tap. The food is nothing showy but definetly good fare, (they have a good take on the local pilgrim wrap and for those meat lovers a selection of german meats called the best of the wurst) the bar can get rather crowded and does seem to slow service a bit. The Troy Pub and Brewery is also right next to a music venue called Independence Hall which makes it a great place to grab a bite before a show.

Located on River St. in Troy. Take Rt 7 across the Hudson, then take the first exit in Troy (Downtown). Bear right on THAT exit to the Hutton St. exit, head three blocks down to River St., then hang a left - it's about three blocks down. Parking on street, and in the parking lot you just drove past.
A great, great conversion of an old brick warehouse - walk past the tables on the way in, separated from the hallway by local breweriana, to the bar near the back. The brewhouse is in the rear of the building, encased in glass. Get a beer at the U shaped bar, then hang out & talk beer, or go out to the deck overlooking the river, or head upstairs to the second dining area. Usually a minimum of six or seven brews on tap, this place is known for their Pale Ale, stouts, and porters - all are very fine brews. The barleywine (only occasionally available) is luscious. Ask the server if anything not listed on the wall is available, as occasionally there will be something neat on tap or on cask, which seems to lean towards regular offerings aged in brandy casks. Mmm.
Have not tried the food in quite some time, but the appetizers & sandwiches used to be very good. The guy next to me ordered garlic bread with cheese and marinara that smelled outstanding.
Update, 3/04: The adjacent Revolution Hall is becoming one of the better live music venues in the area and has a number of Troy's beers on tap. Service at the bar was friendly and prompt. Seasonals tend to be more prevalent in the winter, as they are busy keeping up with their regular offerings in the summer.

From the get-go, as Brown & Moran's, this has been THE place in the Albany area for microbrews. Brick walls, dark wood, nice bar and a seasonal deck overlooking the Hudson River. Food is good, standard, bar fair. But the beer! Over 10 brews of their own all the time. The porter & stouts are always excellent! The pale ale is hoppy and stands up to anyones. This is the standard we use to judge other brewpubs.
