I hope I got a bad bottle. Bought in a make your own 6 pack. Couldn't pass up a fest beer in a cool bottle, but everybody needs to make a mistake now and then. Will try again because I love Oktoberfest/ marzen beers.

Flip top 16.9 oz bottle that I paid $4 for. As others mentioned, nearly zero carbination. Smell is sweet yeast. Taste is very sweet, almost rock candy like, caramel malt, very faint floral hops, a little tartness, and sweet sour dough bread. Not sure if this is old, but it is a very flat, overly sweet "Marzen" if it is one. Almost like drinking an apple juice. OK at best. I couldnt finish it.

Poured from a swing-top bottle into a Celebrator pokal. Pours a medium golden amber with a thin white head that dissipates to light patchiness. Aroma of sweet caramel and bready malt, light fruit. Flavor follows aroma, with caramel malt with a hint of biscuit and light apple juice, finishing with light toffee and mild grassy hops. Medium bodied with light carbonation. A pleasant Oktoberfest style ale with good caramel and lightly buttery flavors, a little weak on carbonation and feels a bit thin in the finish, but leaves a nice lingering mild caramel aftertaste. A little hot and early for Oktoberfest, but still hit the spot.

A: The beer is clear amber yellow in color and has no visible carbonation. It poured with a thin off white head that died down, leaving a thin collar around the edge of the glass and lacing on the surface and down the sides of the glass.
S: Light to moderate aromas of doughy yeast, fruity yeast and sweet malts are present in the nose.
T: The taste is similar to the smell, except that the malts stand out in front of the yeast and offer notes of caramel and toasted malt flavors along with hints of sweetness. No hops are perceptible.
M: It feels just about medium-bodied on the palate and has a low to moderate amount of carbonation.
O: This beer is easy to drink but seems like it could use some hops to help negate the sweetness and could offer a little more livelier amount of carbonation.

This beer is clear copper in color with a fizzy off-white head that manages a finger's height and surprising retention given it's loose appearance. The foam is likewise loose and bubbly but also keeps together and leaves sturdy spotting.
The aroma is bready with fruity esters more resembling apple than dark fruits, very light floral hops notes, and caramel. It's a little light and a little too high on the esters, but fairly solid stuff.
The taste is bready more than toasty but leaning that way, and the same element in the nose is in here; there's definitely a light apple cider character to it, given that those alcoholic esters that sometimes lend themselves to dark fruits go sweeter and less tart, and a little softer as well. Caramel adds a light sweetness without taking it too far, while very light spiciness is detectable from middle to finish under floral hops.
It's a little fizzy but still medium in body, and that fizziness lends it a firm crispness while allowing some smoothness to coincide.

(Served in a dimple mug)
A- This beer pours a dark yellow body with a big fizz that supports a cobweb head of snow white for a bit.
S- The clean nose has hints of candy and sulfur with a faint flinty smell coming through as it warms.
T- The lagered pale malt flavor has a sweetness in the finish with some stronger corn DMS flavor lingering afterwards. There is a soft candy quality to the sweetness that comes through as the beer warms.
M- The medium-light mouthfeel has a tight little fizz in the finish.
O- The light slightly sweet but lagered flavor doesn’t have much malt character at all just a bit of carbonation and a bit of sweetness with a few off flavors is all that is there.

Seemingly a brand new import to the states, unfortunately the bottle seal was likely compromised. Telltale signs of oxidation, no sound when opened, limp lifeless carbonation after a minute in the glass, cardboard aroma and candlewax taste. Deep straw gold, one or two stray rising bubbles, so not completely flat. Bland limp feel and flavor, mild malt breadiness, no complexity.
Avoid it. Not much more to say about it.

I guess it is a Maerzen. There isn't much info on it anywhere. 500ml returnable swing-top. I think it might have been brewed last year but haven't seen it until now.
The smell is fruity with doughy notes. Slight toastiness. Some diacetyl. It isn't 100% all there but decent.
The flavor is also quite fruity. It is rich in malty in the taste with a nice sweetness and some dough. The hops come through in the flavor with some low bitterness but a nice flavor. Nice mineral water body with some slight metallicness.
The flavor is pretty good on this one, not too bad.
