10-ounce short pour enjoyed at the new Steeplejack Brewing Co. location in Hillsboro, Oregon.
Look:
The beer has a bright yellow, slightly hazy body, which is capped by a thick and creamy head of snowy white foam. Decent retention and lacing.
Smell:
Lively citrus and sweet malt, with some mild earthy/dank happiness underneath.
Taste:
The beer is sweeter than I prefer, quite malty, and has a vaguely English character to it. It starts with the bright citrus notes offered by the nose and finishes with some resiny bitterness.
Feel:
Light-medium body with zesty carbonation.
Overall:
Steeplejack Dog Days Summer IPA seems more like a pale than an IPA (the "summer" qualifier notwithstanding), but it's a pleasant refresher in the middle of a nice Sunday bike ride.
