i think technically this is an australian sparkling ale, which you never see from an american brewery, dubbed steeple snacks on the little cans, a genius packaging decision for this, i bet it takes off for them, looks and feels thoroughly old school but the beer in the can is modern and well refined, i was impressed with this, love the serving size, the casual nature of it, and the subtle uniqueness of the beer, even though its a mass appeal beer flavored beer. a neat side car for a bloody mary type thing, but nice on its own too as a little low commitment refresher for anytime of day or night. simple beer, but not bland, its clean and crisp, not sure if they use the old pride of ringwood hops in this or not, but it does have some authenticity to it anyway, an herbal hop profile without much bitterness, slightly floral and spicy, a faint tea note, and a tight and tidy grain base that doesnt taste or feel watered down at all for how low alcohol this is. i could see this being great with raw oysters, hot wings, asian food, a stack of pancakes, just about anything, versatile. big bubbled carbonation is just right for this, it feels really alive, and its dry almost like a lager at the end. this is obviously well branded, but the beer in the can is great too, and i am really impressed with these guys overall so far, hope to check the brewery out while cruising through this summer!
