L – Golden to orange-amber in color, slightly hazy to moderately clear depending on the pour. A white, frothy head forms initially but tends to fade quicker than expected, leaving light lacing.
S – Classic wheat beer profile with aromas of fresh bread, banana, and clove. Subtle citrus and light spice notes round things out, though overall intensity leans mild.
T – Balanced and approachable, featuring bready malt, soft banana esters, and clove spice. Hints of citrus and light sweetness come through, with minimal hop presence. Flavor remains smooth but somewhat restrained compared to more expressive examples of the style.
F – Medium-light body with moderate carbonation. Texture is easy-drinking and slightly creamy, though at times can feel a touch thin depending on the pour.
O – A solid, traditional hefeweizen that emphasizes balance and drinkability over boldness. While it may lack the depth or intensity of standout examples, it remains a clean, reliable option that fits the style well.

The aroma has a bread like malt with some spice and fruit. The appearance is golden with a thin head and very low carbonation. The taste is like the aroma. The palate is typical for the style. Overall a good beer but some minor faults.

Poured from a can into a hefeweizen glass.
Look: Orangish-gold with a think whire head. Poor head retention and lacing.
Smell: Citrus. Yeasty. Sweet. A small amount of hop bitterness in the back.
Taste: Lots of bright citrus (lemon). Dryer than the nose. There's a real mellow quality here that I really dig. A touch of bitterness rounds it out to a perfect degree. The flavor is very well balanced.
Feel: Medium body with the right amount of carbonation. Very easy to drink.
Overall: A very good beer.

Pours a nice golden color with a medium head. Aroma is wheat malt, biscuit, and a slight amount of yeast. Taste is the same with some sweetness & almost no hops. Very good Weissbier. BOD 4-1-2025

Light yeasty banana and clove aroma and flavor. Fairly traditional but on the lighter side.

Name: Rhaner Traditions Weissbier
Brewery: Rhanerbräu GmbH & Co.
Location: Schonthal, Germany
Style: Hefe
ABV: 5.2%
Canned: 04 January 2025
Date: 16 November 2025
Rhaner is the last Hefewiezen in the box. I am using a Hefe glass and serving the beer at 44 degrees. The pour created a frothy, creamy two-fingered, white head with above-average retention. The slow dissipation left little lacing on the glass. The color is golden with light straw-yellow hues; the clarity is hazy, and charts at SRM 6. The beer's appearance is above average for this style.
Nosing the beer, I detect notes of grains, lightly toasted malts, floral esters, a grassy note, banana, cloves, and malty sweetness.
The flavors start with light toasted bread, floral and grassy lightly toasted malts, cloves, phenol, banana, and grainy sweetness.
The mouthfeel is creamy, finishing crisp and clean. The body is medium-light and medium-plus-carbonation.
Final Thought: An exceptional hefeweizen to finish the night off with. The hallmark style gleams as I enjoy sipping the night away.

Part of the Costco Biergarten Collection - 16.9 ounce can - E: 01/10/2026.
Appearance: Golden hue, fairly clear with an inch of whitish foam.
Smell: Crisped, crackling wheat, light banana, light citrus, even lighter phenols. A bit bland.
Taste: Sweetish wheat, a bit grainy and bready. Small twinge of vanilla precludes as it was with the aroma - the light banana, the light citrus, and the even lighter phenols. With all its characteristics dialed down, it certainly is balanced and easy-drinking, but it is altogether bland.
Mouthfeel: Medium-bodied. Medium carbonation.
Overall: Rather subtle in its flavor. Whereas some stray a bit more towards the esters and others lean in on the spicy phenols, this doesn't give you much of either.

Cloudy dark gold pour, thin tight head that leaves quickly. Nose is wheat, citrus, and spice.
Taste sees banana, citrus, spice, fresh bread. Mouthfeel is light, maybe touch thin. Finish sees the continuation if the classic banana spice combo.

Rhanerbräu GMBH & Co. "Traditions Weissbier"
500 ml can coded "P: 20/05/2025 E:20/11/2016 18:41:18 20". Sampled on 15/10/2025
$59.99 / 24 can case - Costco's Biergarten Collection, Costco, Christiana, DE
Notes via stream of consciousness: Poured into a proper weissbier glass it's a cloudy deep-golden with an orange sheen at the widest part at the top of the glass. The head is two fingers thick, and a creamy white in color. In the nose it's malty, bready, and phenolic with lots of banana, clove, some spiciness, and a hint of plastic. On to the taste... the flavor follows the aroma with the addition of some apple-like fruitiness, and none of the plastic phenolic. It's mainly banana, clove, apple, and subtle spiciness. I'm not finding any bitterness but neither did I expect to as that's expected of the style. It's nicely balanced and rounded. In the mouth it's medium bodied and crisp with an elevated carbonation level. I'm quite pleased with this one.

When I tried weisbiers before, I did not like the wheat taste, but this is better than what I remember. Haven't tried this brand before, and maybe it's less wheaty, but it goes down easy. Not one to go looking for but fine for today.

From the pint can in the 2025 Biergarten Collection from Costco, it pours a hazy light amber color with a nice just off-white head that slowly reduces and leaves lots of lacing. The nose gets a bready scent with cloves and banana. The mouth follows with a bready malt flavor with bananas and clove.

I've never seen such a clear Hefeweizen, and the flavors are less murky than typical as well. Pleasant aroma of clove but not too strong. Flavor is the usual banana and spice but less intense than the usual stuff. Sudsy mouthfeel, aromatic, and full of flavor. This tastes a lot lot the Grünbacher Altweisse Gold from the same Costco box. Both beers are brewed in their own breweries but canned by Eibau on the same day. But not complaining, an excellent German wheat beer. From the 500 ml can packaged 01/04/2025. They were busy that day.
