Blue Pit Brewing

Mini road trip to Mountain Home to check out this recenelty opened brewery. Small place right on the main drag. Seemed to have ample street parking. Interior was bare bones, but offered some nice options looking out onto the street. Brewer was providing service, and it was top notch. Stopped by to check on me and ask how I liked the beers. Small but varied selection, and all were pretty good. Recommend if passing through on I-84

newish spot in downtown mountain home, i had really high hopes for this place, for whatever reason i thought it would be awesome to have these guys not too far from boise but a little sort of destination from the city for weekend jaunts, but the beer has a really long way to go, i didnt try them all, but a few i had were low level homebrew status, no offense to many homebrewers, just really off on the fermentation side, especially the dry hopped lager, just terrible, but they did a nice job with cucumber and jalapeno additions to lighter drinking beers, and seem to have some good ideas and much potential, but just arent there yet. it was quiet on a thursday afternoon when i popped in, just one table in the whole spot with people in seats, and one other guy at the bar, service was fine, unremarkable, not a lot of beer knowledge or enthusiasm, but she was friendly enough. the vibe is mellow, but a little odd too, blue neon lights coming up from the bar make it hard to see the color of the beers for example, and decor is sort of scattered and minimal. its a big space though, and like the beer, has a lot of potential. i was hoping to encounter a more finished product when i visited, but am not yet prepared to write them off yet either, despite a lackluster experience. i will give them some time to get it together and check it out again, hopefully update this review with some good news. if they have a great beer in here, i did not discover it during my visit...
