We're thrilled to announce our newest can — Big G's Flavor from the Pocket — created in collaboration with DC icon, activist and legend Anwan "Big G" Glover!
Big G leads Washington DC’s Go Go music scene with his Backyard Band, and he played Slim Charles in HBO’s The Wire.
We worked with Big G to create a light but strong beer that's designed to get the party started and keep it going — whether on the stage, the dance floor, or at the tailgate. It’s easy drinking with a kick, at 6% ABV.

Poured from the can into a nonic(k) pint glass.
Digging the burgundy and gold color scheme, ok I get it. As for the beer, true a nice golden color with excellent clarity and a simple off white head of three fingers. Pretty much ballpark and nothing crazy in the looks, just solid.
This is actually a nice aroma for a blonde ale. No hop action, just a soft malt bill with a light sweetness, some faint honey, and a bit of hinting chewy texture to go in the mix. It hints of a fuller bigger body to come maybe. Very pleasurable on the nose.
Palate is just solid. Soft malts, chewy with a grain sense of dense malt and lighter sweetness of grain and husk. Bit of a faint sweet fruit candy, almost jolly rancher quality lemon but sweeter in taste, and not terribly. Finishes with just a light bit of carbonation, but manages to maintain it's density.
Not always the biggest fan of American Blonde Ales, and was very skeptical about trying this, but I can dig this one, and that's saying quite a bit.

Big G's Flavor From the Pocket has a very thick, odd-white head and a hazy, bubbly golden appearance, with lots of lacing. The aroma is of strong floral and white bread crust notes. The flavor is of spicy, white bread crust, heavy yeast, and and odd chemical note. Big G's Flavor From the Pocket has a high-medium body and a medium-dry finish.

A little on the strong side for the style, but it doesn’t reach the levels for a strong ale. That said, it seems to lean a little more towards the strong golden ale or a tripel in my impression.
Pours nears clear gold/brass with a short-lived head. Nose is honey bread with some floral and even a little bubblegum. King Hawaiian sweet rolls with some red delicious apple bring the beer to it’s midpoint. A neutral bitterness keeps things in control. There’s a hint of fall spice joining the apple pie vibe in back.
I feel I might be making it sound off with the apple references, but it works out well enough. I think a drier finish to this medium-bodied brew might be the first improvement I would want.
