Queens & Sons is inspired by the pub culture we experienced while living in England, as well as by our love for modern IPAs. We enjoyed nothing more than a weekend connecting with each other and the culture of the English countryside. These days often led to spending time in walled gardens, where the kids would gather rag-tag bouquets for us, or to long walks through woodlands before settling ourselves under a canopy of leafy trees in the warm months, or indoors by the fire in the cooler months, at favorite pubs. We created our Soft IPA with rituals of connection and culture in mind. Full in flavor, pillowy mouthfeel, complexity, and sessionable drinkability; Queens & Sons is ideal for any season and any session.

Small pour at The Walled Garden. Hazy orange/ golden our, ring of fine white head, streaky lacing. Light citrusy aroma, grapefruit. Taste comes in much stronger, zesty grapefruit peel stings the palate, but I really it is quite light bodied.

they call this a soft ipa, might be the first time i have seen that as a style indicator in a package before, gorgeous packaging here by the way. i think it makes sense, and i would agree that this is soft in a couple of key ways, its also really fresh and really modern and really good. the first way is that the bitterness is tame, its not a juice bomb and the bitterness is not zero, but its definitely mild, even for a hazy, just a flash of it right on the swallow. its also restrained somewhat, i mean the hops drive it, pop as fresh, and hit unique to me, but also there is nothing overdone about it, no huge triple dry hop, no hop products blowing up the front end, its clean for a hazy, and i think thats part of it. i also reckon the mouthfeel is plenty soft, pillowy even, white wheat and maybe some oats likely, not uncommon in the style, but in a lower alcohol version like this i think those grains can be more delicate, and they make this long and slow without making it heavy or filling, an awesome vector for these hops. there is a softness in a slightly feminine sense too, like the hops hit on white florals, easy white wine, and early spring, which all feels sort of soft in the metaphysical sense. elderflower, canned pear, clean citrus. very satisfying beer, good carbonation, great freshness, real high drinkability but i am in no rush with it. my wife and i both thought this was awesome, just my second from this brewery.

They call this a "Soft India Pale Ale" but it amounts to either a murky Pale Ale or a lower-ABV hazy IPA. The mouthfeel is certainly soft and slippery with a creamy carbonation. Flavor is citrus peel, but in moderation. Astringent finish with a bark and brambles aftertaste. Whatever they do to create the wonderful carbonation that is like biting marshmallows, I wish they would try with some other beer styles. From the 16 oz can purchased at Garden Path, which seems to have a supply of the new K&D brews as they emerge from under the cabbage leaf. Dated 06/23/23.

Canned May 2nd. Hazy pour, layer of foamy head. Pick up floral scents, some citrus and a touch of dankness. Taste is a medium dry hops over a light malt foundation. Finish is ok, no off notes at the end, carbonation is a bit weak. True to their intent, the result is a very drinkable ale with a moderate 5.3 % ABV.
