Poured into a Seattle Beer Week pint glass. Pours a light to medium golden amber with a two finger white head with great retention and solid lacing. Aroma of caramel malt, citrus hops, orange and mixed tropical fruit. Flavor is pale malt, citrus and tropical fruit hops, grapefruit, light orange, mixed tropical fruit with an emphasis on kiwi, a little dankness. Solid West Coast bitterness in the finish. Medium bodied with light creaminess. An easy drinking IPA that leans in style to a pale ale in the malt. Quite a winning hop bill, mostly citrus as is appropriate for the promised style, but not so much pine. One of the many new West Coasters paying homage to the classic style with solid citrus and bitterness, but mixing it up a bit with Eastern style tropical fruit flavors from strata and mosaic. It oddly had one of the more caramel malt aromas of anything I've had in quite a while, but virtually no caramel in the flavor to my taste. This is one of the best uses of those hops I've had in a while. Crisp and refreshing. And of course any brewery that makes a real, solid bitter IPA has stolen my heart right off the bat. Nicely done. I'll be looking from more from this brewery.
