Purchased at the BSF bar, GBBF 2010. Coming in a short-neck 500ml brown bottle, BB 02/09/10, served mildly chilled in a short-stemmed pilsner glass.
A: lightly murky, dark brown in colour, light fizz, dark beige froth sustains well.
S: light dark-grainy and red-bean-ish notes support the main aroma of bubble-gum and banana-ish esters, bready malts and prune juice. Very rounded and nice as far as a dunkle-weizen is concerned.
T: lightly sour-sweet wheat-ish and fruity (green mangos & green bananas) weizen base with a rather smooth darker-malt's sweetness, leading to a mildly dry & chewy aftertaste where mildly sour dark prunes, floral hops and wheat-ish aroma converge nicely.
M&D: medium-bodied, as the beer is approaching its expiration date, the soft fizziness is even slightly flat-ish for this style. All in all, definitely a quaffer, if only it was served slightly fresher...
