Oso Brew Co. “100”
44 cl can coded “30500423527 26/09/24”. Sampled on 26/11/23
Notes via stream of consciousness: This Imperial stout pours the expected opaque black body beneath a full head of dark tan foam. When held to the light you can see a thin edge or ruby along the base of the glass. The aroma is sweetish, softly roasty, toasty, and a hint chocolatey but everything comes out to play in the taste. The roastiness remains soft and smooth, surrounded by notes of golden caramel, medium caramel, sweet bread, dough, milk chocolate, banana, apple, nuts, and toffee. The alcohol is really well hidden for a beer of 10%, and the bitterness is just enough to keep it from becoming cloying. In the mouth it’s medium-full in body and creamy smooth across the tongue. One of the things to note about this beer is that it’s brewed with Lallemand Windsor yeast. Why is that interesting? It’s because that yeast is generally used for lower alcohol beers and this is 10% ABV! That may be where the banana character is coming from. I should also note that this is not my first “100”, it’s my third, but I’ve enjoyed it so much that I had to have more. It’s just so smooth and tasty and easy to drink. At the end of the night, sipping on this and reading a good book is a magical combination that will whisk you away to dreamland.
