decent pale ale here, pretty assertive on the hops and with a little better refinement than some of their other beers seemed to have when i was up in helena last week. this is nice and clear, golden honey colored with a high and airy white head, nice retention, and good sparkle to the carbonation. it smells quite simple, pale two row base malt and clean american ale yeast, real basic, so its all about the hops. i get some pine and sticky sap up front, a clean citrus in the center, and a light grass and spice complexion on the back end, more and more of that as it warms, but never particularly bitter, and the nose and taste are the same. its bold for a pale without being green or even all that modern and dry hoppy, kind of surprising beer really, simple as it is. might be some mosaic in here, could be cascades rearing up late, but im not sure what the hops are. this is pretty clean, balanced enough for what it is, and drinkable, i like it being this low alcohol too. four season pale ale here, sure to appeal to any fan of the style, nice and fresh and flavorful and well made, i was quite pleased with this. dont mind this little sweetness running through it either, seems to accentuate the hops. tasty stuff.
