i guess everyone and their brother in these parts needs to make a huckleberry beer, but are there really real foraged huckleberries in this, or is it some sort of flavoring, puree or otherwise, i mean this hits nothing like the pfriem huckleberry lambic i had in close proximity, not comparing a blonde to a wild ale, but the difference in fruit authenticity has to be mentioned, this tastes like huckleberries the way grape soda tastes like grapes, which is to say what we have been conditioned to think is grape by grape candy, not by fruit itself. the dosing gives it away, this is so over the top in nose and taste it almost cant be real, perfume to me in a degree that severely limits drinkability in a style i normally love to blast off on. these berries are so colorful, and yet this beer has purple visuals, none at all, looks like an old school pale ale in the glass, short on head but not short on carbonation actually. there is a real artificial fruit nose and taste, even without this being overly sweet surprisingly, and it sits on my palate and lives in my burps for way too long. i dont know if they are claiming real fruit, cant be can it? but it doesnt present real at all, and i had a hard time drinking much of this, because its all flavoring without much substance behind it, most of the beer elements obscured to oblivion. when ice cold a few gulps could quench, this isnt full of flaws or anything, they just need to dial in the fruit profile and more importantly the dosing, unless of course they are trying to appeal to the grape soda crowd. easily the worst beer ive had from missouri river so far both in form and in content...
