Don't let the darker color fool you! This beer is lighter in body, clean and deceptively crisp. The German malts and hops used create a beer that is perfect as we transition to our beautiful Fall Minnesota weather. This older traditional style doesn't get a lot of love in modern beer lineups. But we think you'll agree it's time for a comeback!

Can't believe I haven't reviewed this here before now. From my local a couple blocks from my apartment. Poured from a crawler.
Dark brown colored pouring beer. When held up to the light, I get amber hues shining through, and this is a fairly clear beer. The head is quite thick when poured - 3 finger, and it is tan colored. The bubbles of the head are fairly small, and it looks quite frothy. The head retention is decent, and there's great lacing on the glass. I don't have the right glass to pour all 25+ ounces into.
The aroma (after I let the head subside, and got more into the glass), is actually quite light, and subtle. I get a roasted nutty aroma from the malts that pokes through, and hits my nose.
Taste - Roasted malts starts off the hit parade. I get a faint hint of dark chocolate coming into the mix. There's a nutty, and earthy flavor to this beer.
The body is lighter, but not watery feeling in the least. There's no lactose in here, but it has a somewhat creamy feel, with a slight bitterness on the back.
I've had this several times on tap, and in crawlers. This beer is a delicious beer, that's easy to drink. I hope to expose more members of the BA community to this.

Giant monster of a crowler can , 25.4ounces, of Paul Bunyan-esque Altbier poured into a footed glass. Courtesy of @victory_sabre1973 in shenanigans associated with Bif 16. New brewery for me

Coffee black liquid crowned my a creamy one finger taupe foam cap . Settles to a sea of frothiness with cloaking lacings , spotted layered lacings with each sip
Aroma is roasty malts , whiff of fresh roasted coffee
Taste is roasted malts , hint of coffee, bit of earthiness
The body is light , ever so slight bitterness on the finish
Good beer

Crowler can. Label notes the fill date as 10/25 (2022),
Ruby brown colored body. One finger of light tan head. Partial walls of lacing on non-drinking side of the glass.
Aroma is smooth roasted malts and slight floral hops.
Taste is fruity, floral hops and roasted malts. Well balanced, which extends into the aftertaste.
Thinner mouth feel. Very smooth expression and crisp finish. Good carbonation.
Smooth dark ale with close to sessionable ABV%. Fruity and dark, but without the bitterness.
