A Grumpy German Helles. Well, you bet it is. German Helles it is, with some of its trademarks, slightly salty, but not enough for my liking. Had some malty tones to it, not too disturbing though. Overall was quite alright, still Helles enough without having its overall balance upset. Was AOK but nothing to write home about.

Clear yellow body with three fingers of eggshell white foam, consistent lacing crowns the glass. Smell and taste are same: big starring honey malt, supporting floral and grassy hops, bready yeast, slight biscuit, and a lemon drop tone as it warms to accent the finish. Feel is malt driven, light, crisp, almost springy with breadiness rounding out. The wife liked it

Dark gold in color with a fingernail off eggshell white around the rim and covering three quarters of the top. The aroma is of light grains. I’m tasting light, bready grains. The mouth is very light and quaffable.

Look - 1st beer of the 2021 Costco Advent Calendar. Poured into a pint glass. Straw yellow in color, clear, with a huge head that mostly dissipates, leaving behind ~1 finger of lacing.
Smell - sweet biscuity malts, and not much else.
Taste - pretty much all malts on the flavor profile, balanced out by a tiny bit of noble hop like bitterness towards the finish. finish is very clean.
Feel - light bodied, high carbonation, and standard in ABV for the style at 4.9%.
Overall - a nice and light beer to start things off. not particularly a stand out, but its a clean and good tasting helles that checks off all the boxes.

16oz can from an Advent box. Poured out a clear, light golden player with a good-sized, off-white head of foam. It smelled floral with toasted caramel, sweet grains and some fruit. Sweet toasted caramel taste with crackers, bread crust and a mild bitterness.

traditional helles lage with malt forward in taste, mouthfeel, and nose - at first I thought it a bit thin in body, however, at 4.9% ABV it's fine where it is

Picked up as part of the Advent 24-pack from the Greenville, SC Costco on 10-9-21 for $59.99. Expires 2023/05; consumed 12-6-21.
Beer poured a pale gold with a very nice white head with the original pour.
Nose is grainy and crackery with a touch of sweetness.
Taste follows the nose with a light malt base that provides a nice crackers and bready flavor. Finishes with a well-balanced hop addition.
Mouthfeel is light bodied and very refreshing.
Overall a very enjoyable lager, glad i got to try!

Very clean and easy to drink with the right amount of funk on the finish. Good start to the advent calendar. Prost!
