From the bottle, it pours a clear golden amber color with a modest white head that soon diminishes to a slight ring. The nose gets a sweetish grassy scent, followed by a slightly sweet malt flavor in the mouth.

I guess because a marzen is also called a festbier sometimes, it is easy to make them Christmas marzen. But to be honest, in this case for example, I felt nothing Christmasy (as in case of Christmas beers or Winter Warmers etc.) It is nothing but a plain marzen, I thought. Not bad, though, not too sweet - something I prefer from my marzens. There is a slight bitterness to it but that just adds to the taste. I am starting to feel that German marzens may be better than their Austrian counterparts…
