Appearance is dark amber with small one finger thin head. Aroma of slight skunkiness, slight hops but very light. Taste is of practically nothing except some sugar and slight taste of grain that dies immediately but has a mucky and sticky mouthfeel. It's cheap and it tastes it..

Corresponds exactly to the English bitter definition, but light in all compartments, almost like a lager. Not as bad as some notes could make you believe, but not good neither, light aromas, light flavors, and almost light bitterness. Average beer.

L- Quite dark amber, pours with 1Cm fine white head, reducing slowly.
S- Very gentle waft of hops, and nothing more.
T- Something curiosuly sweetish on the front, and then bitter comes along later. The sweetish edge lacks the richness of malt, it lacks that wider flavour, this is narrow, almost like white sugar has been added.
M- Not as refreshing as a 3.8% should be, which to me is just about the only reason to be going below 4%.
O- Well, it's not a purchase I'm going to repeat! Something doesn't stack up here. There are no ingredients listed which is unusual and invites suspicion. The lable narrative states the hops used plus barley, but I'd have expected that to read barley malt instead. All I do know is they've been intentioanlly opaque.
p.s. Doesn't appear to have a BB date on it either...

500ml bottle from Lidl:
A basic English style bitter. Nice pale & earthy malts mixed with some English style, traditional hops & sweetness but there wasn't much to set the beer alight & get me interested. Overall it was an easy one to drink, especially given the low alcohol content but there did seem to be boozy elements to it which weren't great to be honest; drinkable but not one to look out for.

SRM of around 7, it's quite light. No chocolate malt in this one obviously, and the label concurs.
"English Fuggle and Styrian Golding hops" according to the label.
To my mind, this is a bit light on hops, but that's my personal taste, and I shouldn't criticise the beer for that.
It would certainly be nice with a cheese sandwich or that kind of thing, it's pleasant, light, no off-flavours. If it were out of the fridge, it would probably go well with gambas in tapas, without the hops being overpowering.

Dark amber coloured beer with offwhite head. The nose has chalk, white wine and a hint of dried fruit. It starts with a rather creamy taste and some earthy malt. This bit is OK, but could do with being bolder. Then the hops are weaker, with a little green grape (or are they called white grapes?) and something rather metallic putting in an appearance. I doubt this will blow anyone away but it's certainly not the worst of the brewed for discount supermarket beers I've tried.

Purchased at the Lidl supermarket, coming in a 500ml clear bottle; BB 31/07/14, served cool in a straight imperial pint glass. Note: The back label gives some information on the ingredients, that Pale and Crystal malts are used, balanced with English Fuggle and Styrian Golding hops. The Head Brewer is Jeff Drew, although the label doesn’t specify which brewery makes this beer for the Lidl supermarket chain.
Appearance: pours a light amber colour, coming with fine carbonation and a thin off-white head settling to a thin rim on the top.
Smell: light yeasty notes come behind the otherwise aromatic gristy pale malts, with a light whiff of floral hops on the side; given a very good swirl, earthy elements from Fuggles come to the fore, as well as a lightly stinky-sulphuric edge as of hard-water based pale ales. Overall, very timid, comes the aroma.
Taste: very gassy on the entry, the flavour is… well, quite neutral on a palate that is watery and faintly slick, showing weak maltiness, some signs of earthy hops, a little boiled root veggie like sweetness possibly as a result of pasteurisation, and a slightly more noticeable tail of dry-ish and sulphuric undertones. Not bitter but rather dry-ish in the finish, without much of an aftertaste.
Mouthfeel & Overall: initially fizzy but softening as it goes, this light-bodied pale bitter is dull in flavour and not bitter at all, altogether tasting like some drink utilising maybe the second/third…(!) wash and very random manipulation of hops. Given the fact that this watery beer even comes in clear bottles, maybe the dark golden hue is the only selling point all in all? Not recommended.

Clear 500ml bottle: BBD 30 Jun 2014, poured into a UK pint sleeve at home during July 2013.
Light amber to dull gold in colour: white head that didn't want to hang around.
Light malty aroma and taste with a hop dry undertone, especially late on it the mouth.
Fairly thin body depth.
Not bad for 99 Pence a bottle: wouldn't want to pay much more though.
