Sisu is a Finnish concept that loosely translates to mean stoic determination, bravery, guts, resilience, perseverance and hardiness. We brewed this beer to celebrate the Finnish culture we were immersed in while living in the UP of Michigan. You will find notes off coffee, chocolate and some fruity esters as well as alcohol evident in this hardy brew. More a classic RIS instead of today's sweeter versions.

From a 16oz can. No date on the can.
This beer looks like motor oil while pouring. Pitch black in color. It has a very thick, 3 finger brown head. The head retention is awesome, and there's a clingy ring of lacing on the glass as the head dissipates.
The aroma is lighter than expected. I get chocolate notes along with roasted malt. Hints of caramel show up also.
Taste - The flavor has a nice hop bitterness up front. The flavor then turns to a smooth dark chocolate flavor with caramel notes on the backside. Hints of plum and raisin also show up.
Bitterness feeling is pleasing. The body is thick and fairly full. Somewhat smooth. No real burn to this beer.
Quite tasty old style RIS. Quite happy with it, though the nose is lacking.

draft pour into snifter. pitch black. thin dark brown foam cap. crossties malts and coffee on the nose but also hops. dark fruit, chocolate, pine all on the taste. medium-full mouthfeel. almost syrupy. almost thick. this was good. old school and old fashioned. hoppy but big and bold. highly enjoyable.

16oz can with no date code. Nice can label, a Finnish woman cross county skying in a snowstorm.
Not sure how old this can is.
Look: Impressive pour. Very tall fine thick head that persists, Leaves massive amounts of thick lacing. Dark brown almost black body. No light goes thru the body from the beer light.
Smell: chocolate, roast, fruity/berry, alcohol
Taste: Chocolate then Roast, next fruity/berry then more chocolate plus coffee on the finish. Hints of coffee, maybe red wine and wood. Slightly bitter over all but hints of sweetness in the fruit /berry element. ABV is well hidden, but you can tell it's there.
Feel is solid, not thick or thin.
I wish I had more cans

Bought in a can at the brewery. Pours dark and with a good head. Good example of an imperial stout. Definitely alcohol forward. Will drink again but not more than 1-2 at a time.
