Can purchased at the brewery, enjoyed about a week afterwards.
Pours with a warm malty brown color. The nose has a prominent Heather note. The sip follows, with a sticky spackly hop touch on the finish. This is a malt forward beer.

On draft
Color was reminiscent of strong iced tea and looked unfiltered. Sports a brief manilla head.
The aroma was faint, very faint, perhaps if it wasn’t so cold I might have gotten something with my damaged nose.
The taste was unlike anything I have tried before, certainly mild malts and no bitterness, what I am guessing is the heather adds a floral taste but not like a particular flower, it’s odd, but quite tasty.
The feel was thinner than expected from the appearance, and smooth. Quite quaffable actually.
I could see myself pounding these on a warm day. Good beer.

As the story goes, the recipe for Scottish Heather Ale was held by the Pict people. When they were all but wiped out, save for a father and son, the father vowed to take the recipe to the grave almost effectively erasing the style from history. However, remnants of an ancient vessel containing the ale were found and analyzed allowing the style to live on. Take It To The Grave is best slightly warm, giving notes of heather flower, caramel, and full malt character.
