Born Nathaniel Coles in 1919, Nat "King" Cole gained fame as a piano player while living around the corner from our Bronzeville headquarters.

Unforgettable Brown Ale is medium bodied, nutty on the nose with notes of toffee, biscuit and a hint of tree sap sweetness in the back. Infused with maple syrup aged in 18th Street Distillery barrels for 3 years, this brew honors a south side Chicago icon. The first African American to host a network television program, whose velvety voice is as timeless as real maple syrup paired with freshly baked biscuits.

Old review from 4/26/24. Pours a clear brown with small tan head. Aroma has chestnuts, biscuit, maple syrup, and maybe some oats. Taste is sweet with light to medium body. Flavorful and solid.

"Born Nathaniel Cole's in 1919, Nat "King" Cole gained fame as a piano player while living around the corner from our Bronzeville headquarters. UNFORGETTABLE Brown Ale is medium bodied, nutty on the nose with notes of toffee, biscuit and a hint of tree sap sweetness in the back. Infused with maple syrup aged in 18th Street Distillery barrels for three years, this brew honors a south side Chicago icon. The first African American to host a network television program, whose velvety voice is as timeless as real maple syrup paired with freshly baked biscuits."

16oz undated can poured into a bulbous pint glass shows a ruby-tinged, cola colored, semi-opaque, clear body with barely a cap of off-white bubbles that recedes to wispy islands and edge bubbles.

Toffee aroma and flavor is strongest, but still subtle, and the maple appears above it all. With warmth there is definitely a booze flavor, bourbon-like, coming through. The description does not identify the type of booze the barrels held before being loaded with maple syrup, and this beer is definitely not boozy, however there are notes of bourbon barrel aging, heightened by the base beer and maple. Well done flavors even if the beer itself is otherwise unremarkable.

Feel is on the thin side as expected for the style, and a maple sweetness remains on the palate.

Overall an easy drinking, flavorful, beverage. Good stuff, but don't rush. It needs to breathe
