A dark, malty, and somewhat sweet German Lager that is thick and robust, with complex flavors throughout. The name Doppelbock translates to "Double Bock", indicating around twice the strength of a normal Bock beer. This storied beer style from Germany is steeped in Monastic tradition when the monks of the day used to make "liquid bread" for two reasons - the first is that water wasn't exactly safe to drink and the second is that beer could be consumed during fasting days when food was verboten.
