Pitch A Tent
Hobbs Brewing Co. IPA - Imperial / Double
Refreshing to have a clear, West Coast style DIPA once in a while. Piney, bitter Earth and pineapple hops coast on through with a caramel malty backbone that is true to form and balance. Crisp in the morning and smooth at night. Soft piney spice is nice.

From the 16 fl. oz. can dated 09/16/20. Sampled Oct 22, 2020.
Golden amber pour with decent with average clarity underneath of lacing-leaving cream colored head.
Even though this is a few weeks old I pick up a powerful Tropical fruit and citrus hopped nose with a lower profile cereal grain.
The mouthfeel is light to medium and it is a tad harsh.
Tropical fruits and citrus hops are the main flavor sensations and it ends with a bitter hop bite.

Hard to believe that this IPA comes with an 8% ABV - the alcohol seems hardly noticeable although that might not be the case after consuming several cans at one sitting. Tough to be noticeable in today's world of IPAs but this very local product is quite refreshing and worthy of another purchase. I've recently been impressed with the canned products which Hobbs has been producing and Pitch a Tent continues that trend.

Poured on draft into a 16 oz snifter and it says it is 8% ABV. Pours a very attractive orange with a solid two finger sticky white head that leaves behind loads of lace.
Smell is apricot, mango, lemon drops, pine, and grapefruit rind.
Taste follows apricot, mango, upfront with lemon, pine, and grapefruit in slightly bitter finish.
Mouthfeel is medium, plenty of carbonation, a touch dry, and excellent drinkability.
Overall this is a very solid and balanced West Coast IPA that leaves a little bit of bitterness on the tongue.

Draft at the Thirsty Moose Manchester.
Hazy dark golden color with a smallish bubbly white head. Bready caramel with a hint of extract twang to it on the malt side. I know its probably not brewed with extract but its got that oxidized molasses thing I remember from my early homebrew days going on. Resinous pine earthy light spice with a lingering astringent hop bitterness in the finish. Not a bad beer, but certainly nothing earth shattering either.
