Bringing childhood flavor memories to the present, Scout & Scholar brewers look to the classic creamsicle treat that's fed through a used paper towel roll and extruded via a stick. Except this version comes in a pint glass.
Push Up teases the senses with a mostly golden but slightly orange glowing hue. Above its light haze floats a white froth and a scent of citrus, wine, cider and cream. Easy on the palate, the beer's first sip reveals a tangy sweetness that's redolent with taffy, simple syrup and vanilla wafer.
Here comes the fruit as the generous additions of tangerine, peach and grapefruit quickly dwarf the fleeting sweetnes as soon as the sour ale washes over the middle palate. Lighter notes of vanilla brings a sangria, bellini and mimosa character to the basic creamsicle flavors that kicked off the flavors. Slim bitterness finishes off the flavors while a clean, refreshing and thrist quenching sourness finishes off any lingering sweetness.
Light in body and easy on the palate, the session is quite wine spritzer-like with a mild fermentation earthiness to remind us its a beer. Finishing clean, lactic and brisk, a very brief aftertaste of fruit comes with those push-up whimsical memories.
