This location vibes just like a brewery with Columbus roots would, feeling more like a trendy, open air brunch and cocktail bar than a brewery. It may even have committed a little too confidently to that end, as they're going to learn fairly quickly just how much less practical this format is after one Cleveland winter, even if it is only 2 hours north of their original location. Lake Erie just hits different.
Anyway, while it's still warm out, I'm glad we got to enjoy the environment with the space fully open, but they have some serious yellow jacket issues they need to tackle, and the salt gun isn't going to cut it. It's time to call the exterminator.
That said, the helles I started off with was plenty enjoyable, but the beer menu overall seemed a little uninspired. Additionally, the rest of the beers we had during our visit weren't too great, with a couple of them tasting like stale shelfies from back in the day when breweries were still getting their bearings around WC IPA. There are too many better options here in Cleveland to give them a second visit, made all the more stark by our first visit to Bookhouse, which was our second and final stop of the day.
The food didn't look terrible, but we didn't partake.
