A truly great brewpub experience and likely the best spot in town for traditional/regional food and beer. And wow what great beer! The Schwarzbier was world class, the Rotgold Kellerpils was unique, and their seasonal Winterbier was a strong and delicious way to finish the meal/visit. Enjoyed the schweinebraten which was a great portion with a few sides for a reasonable €16,50. Compared to the first review, it seems prices haven't increased much at all in two years. Beers were on the pricey side for Germany, though, ranging from €4,60 for the Schwarzbier to €4,80 for the Kellerpils as half liter pours. Several to-go options, as well, with a cooler near the entrance stacked with bottles of their Blonde (Helles), 2L growlers, and 1L bottles of Winterbier. A modern, spacious brewpub/tavern by German standards as there are several locations around the state of BW so it isn't as cozy as older pubs in a city center/Altstadt but absolutely worth a visit!

Barfüßer Hausbrauerei is a nice looking place with modern decor. It’s all new so don’t be fooled by the fake bricks. It’s comfortable enough though, and quite spacious. As is normally the case, there’s outdoor seating when the weather permits. It’s part of a chain with at least five locations so that should explain it’s appearance, and to a certain extent it’s menu and pricing. There are five regular beers (Blonde (helles), Schwarzen (schwarzbier), Weiße (weizenbier), Rotgold (Kellerpils), and Bockbier (starkbier) as well as 4 bottled beers which are a little more adventurous from Urban Monk (which I assume they also own). All of the beers I tried were very good. The food follows in the tradition of the region with a few twists such as unusual ingredients and a fair amount of vegetarian dishes. The food is good, although slightly pricey, and exactly what you’d expect from a chain. Some examples include Brauerfladen (a version of flämmkuchen) with tomato sauce, cheese and mushrooms for €10,90, Schnitzel with spätzel & sauce for €13,90, and Schweinshaxe with käsespätzle and caramelized onions for €16,90. The service was good but I was quite surprised when I was presented with the credit card machine I was told that I could leave a tip if I wanted to - I have never seen that in Germany before.
