Pours opalescent and very pale straw into a Pretentious Glass Company dimpled mug. Two inches of pure white, fluffy head quickly settles over the course of one minute to one quarter inch. It holds there for a minute before proceeding on to become a thin veil. All this drama, over the course of three minutes. One would expect lacing at some point, but it never appears.
A dusty brine aroma is actually irritating to my nose. There are light lemon notes to help provide relief.
The flavors are very mild, with a neutral balance between sweet/bitter/sour. Light lemon notes and bread come through. The finish is dry and non-descript, while being modest in length.
This has a light body and scratchy nylon texture. It is dry, with modest, fizzy carbonation and no hint of alcohol.
Berliner Weiss should be special, yet this beer misses the mark. There is nothing challenging, no subtle nuance, simply no spark for the imagination. That said, it was still worth the experience, even if it left me uninspired and lacking desire for a second.
