Pretty nice beer. I like that it wasn't too sweet. Lots of bitterness from the hops. Great value at $8 CAD for 750ml. If you like brown ales give it a try. Would buy again.

Dark brown becomes ruby when held to the light. Some visible carbonation only when you peer real hard into this darkness. Topped with a finger of beige head.
Immediate scents of citrus and pine mixed with dark toasted tar notes, much like a black IPA. Coffee and dark chocolate come in on a second smell of the brew.
Dark chocolate, big, dark roasted char notes on the tongue, mixed with citrusy orange and hints of pine. Overall, its very malt and char forward.
Thick body, with moderate, foamy carbonation.
An all right brew. Great label and bottle, makes me want to drink more. The profile reminds me of a hefty black IPA overall, unfortunately not a style I prefer. It feels a little imbalanced on the palate for any style though. Drinking in Muskoka, Dec 3rd, 2017.

750 ml bomber for $7.95 CDN from the LCBO. 92 IBU's! Looking forward to a big beer from Wellington as they seem to put out a new one every year. Frostquake Barleywine, 2015 - Chai latte Stout. Served at the recommended temperature into a tulip. This seems to have some added kick from their Terrestrial Brown Ale which appeared last year as this is more intense, alcoholic and heavily hopped.
Appearance - Very dark brown out of the bottle with a tiny bit of ruby hues. Looks black in the glass. Light beige head of three fingers looks great and then has some substantial staying power maintaining well over a finger of foam for a few minutes. Frothy looking.
Smell - Earthy hops, with plenty of roasty notes, Molasses, hint of pineapple, earthy, subtle bits of leather and tobacco. There's a certain quality that is hard to describe with this beer. Pine resin comes through a little as it warms.
Taste- Massive bitterness early, roasty flavors, grain, leather and tobacco. Finishes with very earthy bitterness and some booziness. As with the nose, a little hard to describe what is going on here.
Mouthfeel - Full bodied, carbonation on the lower side of things, boozy in the back of the throat (drinking like a 9%ABV beer or so) and super dry finish. You certainly realize that this is a strong beer as you drink it.
Overall _ A nice strong brown ale, loads of hop bitterness. Wish there was just a little bit of sweetness to break through and keep this a little more balanced, but still a tasty tipple for those enjoying a beer of this ilk. Value is bad here either at just over $1 / 100ml.
