Bourbon Barrel Aged Imperial Stout with Coffee. Canned September 26, 2022. Served cold into a tulip. Review from notes
Appearance - Midnight black with a finger of tan head head. Modest staying power. No lace to speak of.
Smell - Lots of wet coffee grounds, some wood and hints of bourbon beyond a very roasty base stout.
Taste - Lots of roasty flavors, plenty of coffee, some bourbon. Quite bitter which works but there's just a dimension lacking here that makes it merely good rather than great.
Mouthfeel - Very full bodied, light carbonation. Chewy and rich.
Overall - A good imperial stout, but just wish there was some additional flavor other than the base roastiness and the extra coffee flavor. The bourbon seems subdued compared to the other brews, although the vanilla additives in MIRACH would help bring that out relative to ALMACH.
