My favourite "new" Wellington brew and hopefully a sign of hop-focused things to come. This can was released June 17th 2012 and has held up remarkably well, although I remember more citrus hop elements over last summer and can't explain why I've waited until now to open a can to review.
Pours a dark amber with red highlights. Decent off-white head dissipates quickly, but leaves lacing down the glass. Aroma of caramelized malts with a faint citrus undertone. No sign of "faded" hop tones or copper, so hope that's an accurate description. Initial malt sweetness transitions into a decent bitterness that lingers for an impressive length of time. A bracing "bite" that's a nice surprise for a Guelph beer. Hops are also present in the back half of the body, although any earlier tropical fruit tones have faded in the 6 months since canning.
Nothing revolutionary, but this is a decent American-style IPA that I hope Wellington will brew again.

On tap at Volo. A decent colour, a dark golden yellow with an orange hue, lasting head. Medium bodied, very little hop aroma. Decent drinkability but just passable IPA. Some off notes, more flavour from hops would be appreciated, for an IPA. More bitter than sweet.
