Poured from 16-ounce crowler into a snifter. Opaque blackish-brown in color, with a finger of dark tan head that settled to a thick ring leaving some streaky lacing. It's apparent from the name that they were going for the Almond Joy association, and they managed to nail it without the attendent sweetness. Aromas and flavors of coconut, almonds, chocolate, and hints of vanilla bean, as expected. Bourbon and barrel notes are also present, but not overwhelming. The alcohol is very well hidden for such a big beer. This one has "legs," coating the inside of the glass and offering a silky mouthfeel. Overall, a great beer from this up-and-coming brewery.
