Schmitt Bräu

Dropped in for a visit this last week looking for the "36 Kreisla" bier that they were part of the team brewing. I discovered that the family that has run the brewery for the long term is seriously investing in it! They had switched to contract brewing (lohnbrau) in the early 2000s and they still are (all Schmitt Bräu bottled beers are currently brewed in Burgkunstadt), but they have a small on-site brewing operation for their brewpub. They are friendly, aggressive and obviously are instilling a new sense of purpose in the old pub!
